Feeling stuck? Never underestimate the power of baby steps in your business

Earlier this week, I sent out a post to my business socials that read, ‘Remember, even the smallest steps move you forward.’ I wrote this timely lil’ piece of advice after reading through many posts from women who, rather than take a baby step in their biz, did nothing at all. Why? Because the internet told them that unless you’re taking giant leaps forward, it’s just not worth it.

Who are these people, seriously?

If any expert, guru or teacher gives you this entrepreneurial advice, run. I’m not joking. Just take to your sketchers and be off; no explanation is required.

By definition, entrepreneurs are bringing new skills and innovations to the market, and do you know what this means? It means that we don’t always know what we’re doing, and we sometimes/ often get stuck. It happens to everyone (trust me). So, let’s take that in for a minute. If you’re feeling stuck or worse, paralysed with fear about not knowing WTF you’re doing, would it seem sensible to try to GAINT LEAP your way forward?

No! It would be a disaster!

You see, in that space of ‘stuckness’ and fear, we’re struggling to move at all, never mind taking Gigantor size strides to the next big thing, so what do we do?

The first thing is to recognise where we are and identify the feeling. Stuck, scared, unsure [insert current feeling here] and know it’s normal. 100%-par-for-the-course-going-to-happen-to-everyone-typical. It’s only from a place of acceptance that we can take a step forward; otherwise, we’re just leaping around in fear-based thinking, leaving sloppy, muddy size 19’s all over our previous great work.

Let me tell you; small steps are crucial to this process. Whatever it is, and however seemingly tiny, take the next step. If that means sending out a social post today or taking a walk to clear your head, do it because those baby steps are the bridges between the moments of greatness and the whispers between the landmark decisions and without them, we’re going to fall through the cracks and snap a stiletto heel.

There will be a time and place for the giant leaps, you will take them, and they will propel you forward and into great things. Of that, I have no doubt, but please don’t underestimate the significance of a baby step forward today. Build the walkways because, in doing so, you are paving the way for others to follow. You didn’t think this entrepreneurial journey was all about you, did you? ;)
