Galentine's Day & Self-Love Day: Because Loving Yourself Isn't Just for Rom-Com Montages

By Tricia Scott.

Ah, February: The month that's become synonymous with heart-shaped everything and a sudden influx of red and pink decor that looks like Cupid got a bit too carried away. But here's the thing — love isn't just for romantic candlelit dinners and overhyped greeting cards. It's for YOU, too. That's where Galentine's Day (Feb 13th) and Self-Love Day (Feb 15th) come in, and if you're not already circling them on your calendar in hot pink biro, you're about to.

These two unofficial (but oh-so-essential) holidays, sitting on either side of the romanticism of Valentine's Day, are your chance to flip the narrative on love (or add to it). Instead of waiting for someone else to make you feel special, you take the reins. Because, let's face it, nobody's better at knowing what you really need than you.

So, how do you, a powerhouse female founder, embrace these days with all the sass, style, and self-respect you deserve? Buckle up because I've got ideas.

Throw a "Gal Pal Power Hour" on Galentine's Day

This isn't just your average catch-up call. Gather your business besties, clients-turned-friends, or that networking connection you've been meaning to message. It's a chance to swap wins, share challenges, and bask in each other's brilliance and ideas. Bonus points if you add a theme (think "Pink & Prosecco" or "Cocktails / Mocktails and Connections") to make it extra special.

Pro Tip: Send out cheeky digital invites ahead of time. Canva is your BFF for this.

Self-Love Day: Schedule Your Own CEO Day Off

If you're thinking, "I'll just scroll Instagram and call it self-love," think bigger. I'm talking about a proper CEO day off. No emails, Slack, or "I'll just quickly check in."

Here's your itinerary:

  •  Morning: A thoroughly decedent lie-in followed by an obnoxiously long coffee with a book that's not about productivity hacks.
  •  Mid-morning: Book the spa. Yes, the one you've been meaning to visit since Covid.
  •  Afternoon: Do something for YOU. Buy that stunning print you've had in your Etsy cart for 3 months. Take a jewellery-making class. Write that places to visit list that's long overdue.
  •  Evening: Netflix and gold-infused face masks are a vibe. No guilt.

Pro Tip: Block it out in your calendar as "Important Strategy Time" if you're worried someone will try to steal it (they will).

Treat Yourself Like Your Dream Client

If you'd go above and beyond for your clients, why not for yourself? Write a love letter to YOU. Not even kidding. You'd be surprised how powerful it feels to list all the reasons you're a total boss.

Here's a little starter: "Dear (insert name), I'm so proud of how you handled (insert wild challenge) last year. You're resourceful, brave, and honestly, you've got fabulous taste in candles."

Put it somewhere you'll see it often. Because you are, in fact, amazing, and it's high time you acknowledged it.

Launch a Self-Love Challenge (and Get Your Clients Involved)

If you're feeling generous, why not make this a bit of a movement? Send a newsletter or launch a quick social media challenge encouraging your clients and community to join you. It's on-brand, feel-good, and a smart way to deepen those customer connections. Ask them to share their self-love rituals and tag you for a chance to win a little something special from you.

Pro Tip: Tag The Female CEO or send us your post via DM, and one lucky winner will receive a special little something from me.

Indulge in a "Treat Yo' Self" Moment

You're a busy human; sometimes self-love is as simple as giving yourself something just because you can. It could be a ridiculously good bottle of wine, the handbag you've had your eye on, or that niche business course that's been sitting on your wish list for months. No need to justify it. Just because.

Download The CEO Radio Playlist

Every CEO needs a theme song (or 10) to hype herself up. Spend an hour indulging in the ultimate playlist created for you by our fabulous Spotlight Interviewees and community. Feel free to DM or email me to add songs that make you feel like you can conquer the world (you totally can).

Flat-Out Refuse to Apologise for Putting Yourself First

No, you're not being "selfish". No, you're not "too much." Loving yourself out loud is a radical act in a world that's always asking you to do more, be more, and give more. If anyone questions it, give them your best side-eye. (You know the one.)

Galentine's Day and Self-Love Day are more than just fun "holidays" to mark on your calendar. They're a real opportunity to step back, celebrate, and refuel. And as a female founder, you're not just running a business — you're building a life. That's worth every bit of love, appreciation, and yes, spa appointments.

I believe in you (always).
