Style Resolutions for 2022 to Help You Feel Empowered About Your Wardrobe
By Nichola English.
The festivities are over for another year, and 2022 is upon us. It's the perfect opportunity to fully commit to being all of your fabulous self and the precise time to make a few commitments to you and your style
Ask yourself?
- What does your style look like to you?
- Is it to have an organised working wardrobe?
- Wear more colour with confidence?
- Create a sustainable wardrobe with key pieces?
Whatever it is, this is an electrifying time to rethink and step outside your style comfort zone and set some personal style goals.
I suggest starting small and focusing on one goal at a time; the best resolutions are the ones you're likely to work on and use.
This isn't about starting over; it's about ascertaining what you've already got and making it work for you.
Detox your wardrobe
This is where your style resolutions should start, and there's no better way to bring in the New Year than a fresh, organised wardrobe space. Start your eradication by getting rid of those items that don't represent you or your style, and start focusing on the pieces you want to wear all the time.
Adopt an attitude of gratitude
The act of giving gratitude has scientifically proven benefits. Using this method may initially give you a slight outlook shift, but it can significantly change your life. Kickstart start your new year with this goal and start a gratitude journal.
Be confident with the clothes you wear
Time to climb that style confidence mountain! Life is simply too short to keep wearing the same clothing that doesn't feel like you. Ditch the clothes, styles, sizes that don't love you back and instead look at styles, textures, silhouettes, and shapes that make you feel like the most confident you. I want you to take the time to understand what makes you feel good. Whatever it is, make it your goal to have a myriad of styles that give you that feel-good connection.
Love your body
We all know that beauty comes in all forms and sizes. It's time to befriend your body and become acquainted with your body type and the style that work best with your shape. Knowing your silhouette is the most powerful tool in your style arsenal.
Treat yourself to beautiful underwear
Firstly, please get fitted professionally for a bra. Many women are wearing the wrong size or shape, and having the right lingerie can make you feel sassy, powerful, and confident. Remember, you don't need to wear pretty underwear for anyone else but you! Carolyn Mair- a behavioural psychologist says, "Wearing nice quality underwear or lingerie sets boost our confidence and self-esteem, even if no one sees it," So, this is your year to adorn that pretty bra and panties!
Opt for quality, not quantity
Ethical fashion is becoming increasingly popular as consumers become more and more aware of its many benefits. They are far better quality on a practical level, meaning they last longer throughout the seasons. Why not make your goal to research sustainable/ ethical fashion and make a list of the items you'd like to invest in? Look at a budget and try not to get too carried away with buying unnecessary purchases! You might surprise yourself at how much you save on clothing over the entire year.
Time to Take a risk
Never be afraid to experiment with bold patterns and bright colours. Start with budget-friendly versions if you're not sure. Combining various textures and patterns to your wardrobe allows you to develop your style. This resolution/goal is about going outside of your style comfort zone.
Schedule a list of work engagements, occasions, or events
This allows you to plan the perfect outfit for each event, occasion or work without feeling overwhelmed. Start thinking and creating a list of ideas of what you will wear or potentially need to buy. You could use Instagram, Pinterest or online store magazines for visual inspiration. Don't forget to incorporate a realistic budget within the list. You don't need to break the bank to have amazing style.
Final Thoughts
Make 2022 the year to foster your unique style & confidence by wearing what you genuinely love and articulating who you are as an individual. It's time to love your style!
