That Girl Meets Laura Jones: A Powerhouse Mogul and Resilient Soul

By Natasha Lee

I first met Laura Jones at an event hosted by the Black United Fund of Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the youth. As President of BUF of Michigan Millennial Council and Director of Special Projects, I had the pleasure of meeting Laura, who had been invited by Mr. Kenneth Donaldson, the CEO of BUF of Michigan, to volunteer at our Youth Financial Literacy Fair.

I remember the moment vividly. Laura stood out in the crowd—not just because of her impeccable style and commanding presence but because of her straightforward, kind-hearted nature. She was fly from head to toe, exuding a confidence and sincerity that made her instantly trustworthy. From that moment onward, Laura and I have been connected. We have completed many youth initiatives together, with Laura pouring her heart and soul into projects for BUF of MI and Being That Girl Agency. I'm thrilled to welcome her to the That Girl Tribe and, of course, The Female CEO stateside.

Lauraette Jones's life story embodies resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of others. Hailing from Shelby, Mississippi, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, Lauraette's journey began with a profound sense of purpose. Answering her nation's call, she served with honor in the United States Army, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service.

Driven by her passion for Information Technology, Lauraette pursued higher education, earning degrees from the University of Phoenix and the University of Maryland in Science and Computer Information Systems. Yet, her path was not solely about personal achievement but about empowering others. Inspired by her own experiences as a survivor of domestic violence, Lauraette became a fierce advocate, recognizing the importance of rebuilding self-esteem and promoting self-awareness.

In her professional career, she was pivotal in establishing the Federal Government's first Usability Lab, earning recognition in Computer World Magazine and a nomination for the Laureate Award. Her work within the Defense Health Agency demonstrates her dedication to preventing technology crimes and safeguarding sensitive data from threats.

In 2019, she elevated her commitment to serving others by founding Kroun2Kroun, a nonprofit organization focused on aiding individuals affected by sexual abuse and violence. Through innovative programs and initiatives, Lauraette's organization provides vital resources and support to those in need, making a tangible difference and further cementing her dedication to community empowerment.

Lauraette is also a serial entrepreneur with diverse business ventures. She operates Amazon fleets, showcasing her versatility and business acumen. Adding to her impressive list of accomplishments, Lauraette has emerged as a new television personality, sharing her inspiring messages with a broader audience on a reality TV show based on resilient and successful entrepreneurs in the DMV area.

Her business, "Hey Girl Hey, I Have a Message for You," has gone viral on TikTok, resonating with women worldwide. The brand, born from Lauraette's life challenges—including losing her two children, one to cancer and the other to suicide, surviving domestic violence, a kidnapping, and overcoming low self-esteem and a violent nature—aims to inspire the masses to live beyond the chaos of this world. Her heartfelt messages speak to the soul of a woman, offering encouragement and hope. "Hey Girl Hey, I Have a Message for You" is more than just a message; it's a one-stop shop for women's inspiration, featuring merchandise, clothing, and beauty products designed to uplift and empower. Lauraette's brand embodies the spirit of resilience and self-love, making it a trusted source of motivation for women everywhere

Despite her numerous accomplishments, Lauraette remains grounded, guided by her mission to serve others. Her story reminds us that true success is measured not only by personal accolades but also by our impact on the lives of those around us. From her military service to her role as a champion for survivors, Lauraette Jones's journey exemplifies the transformative power of resilience, faith, compassion, and the determination to improve oneself and assist others along the way.

Next on Laura's horizon is her "Hey Girl Hey" Tour, launching in Washington in July. This tour promises to bring her powerful message of resilience and empowerment to women nationwide, continuing her mission to uplift and inspire.

It's clear that Lauraette Jones is not just a powerhouse mogul but a resilient soul whose journey is far from over. Her relentless spirit and unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of others make her a true inspiration and a force to be reckoned with.
