Visualise and Manifest Your Desired Life
By Ilana Jankowitz.
You're harnessing one of the most powerful (and under-used) tools available when you visualise. So, to make your dreams and goals come true and reach your fullest potential, you need a visualisation practice.
How do you visualise?
We hear a lot about the law of attraction and manifesting, but how does it work?
Well, the brain sees in pictures. Try it: What colour are your bedroom walls? You can 'see' your bedroom, can't you? So, the more you train your mind to visualise the life you want and the goals you want to achieve, the easier it becomes to manifest those things.
The first thing you need to do is close your eyes and see the picture of what you want to achieve in your mind's eye. Then add extra depth and colour to your visualisation by connecting with the emotions you're feeling. Are you
• Happy?
• Excited?
• Proud?
See and feel yourself winning that race, completing the course, living in your dream home, or whatever your dream or goal may be. Paint the most vivid image you can and use all your senses.
Tricking the mind
The practise of visualisation is so powerful because our brains don't know the difference between an actual event and an imagined one.
Scary movies are such a great example of this. For many of us, when we're watching a movie, and someone is being chased, we might hide our faces because we're scared. Then we keep telling ourselves over and over, "It's only a movie, it's only a movie", but that still doesn't stop it from seeming real.
Your mind and imagination are incredibly powerful, but they can't tell the difference between past and present or actual or imagined. It simply believes that everything is accurate and happening right now.
Therefore, when you think negative thoughts, you bring negative feelings and experiences into your life. And vice versa with positive thoughts.
Napoleon Hill spoke to the truth of this so beautifully when he famously said, "Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve!"
Visualise your success
You can use visualisation to boost your confidence before facing something that might usually worry you, with exams or tests, for example. If you spend time beforehand visualising that everything went well, then you'll go into the exam room with a positive mindset and an expectation to do well.
On the flip side, if you tell yourself you're going to fail before you've even begun, then the chances are much higher that that's what will indeed happen.
The fact is your brain is always looking for evidence to prove itself right. So, use that intuitive process to your advantage and actively provide it with evidence that stacks up in favour of the outcome you want.
Visualisation actions
If you're serious about creating the life of your dreams, it's not enough to have a desire and then be a passive bystander hoping that you'll get what you want!
To achieve your goals and dreams, you must be an active participant and meet the Universe halfway by visualising and acting.
These are my tried and tested visualisation and manifestation action steps that I use and encourage my clients to use.
Step 1: Write down your goals and dreams
Writing down everything you want to achieve (on paper or in a note on your phone) sends a super clear message to the Universe. Make this real by writing them in the past tense as if they've already happened.
Step 2: Review
Make sure what you want to receive feels juicy and exciting. If it doesn't genuinely light you up, then it's either someone else's goal that you think you should want, or you just haven't made it exciting enough.
Step 3: Engage
Every day read your written goals and dreams out loud. Then close your eyes, picture them, and feel what it's like to be living them.
Step 4: Create affirmations
Use your written goals to create a series of affirmations that speak to who you are when you achieve them. Say them numerous times each day (ideally out loud). For example, I am strong. I am successful. I am wealthy. I am enough.
Step 5: Journal
Write in the present tense and trick your brain into believing you have what you desire right now.
Step 6: Practice gratitude
The Universe will always work with you to bring you more of what you want. So, the more grateful you are for what you have, the more it'll bring you.
Step 7: Create a vision board
Visuals are powerful for helping your mind bring the things you want to life. Take your goals and desires from Step 1 and look through magazines or Pinterest to find images representing them. Also, look for words that motivate and inspire you. Print or cut them out and stick them to a physical board/card so that you can see them every day. Or, if you prefer, create a digital vision board.
The most important thing is that you spend time engaging with your desires every day and visualise having/being those things. When you show up and act, you'll be stunned by the shifts and synchronicities that start to occur regularly.
